One person I admire in the area of education is Maria Montessori (1870), the first Italian female doctor and creator of the Montesorri method.
Before I tell you a little
more about her, I want to say why she is so important to me. For me, Maria
Montessori is a revolutionary in early childhood, her method is the most
successful for educating children who are protagonists of their own
development, highlighting independence and initiative as the main concepts of
the method. I really believe that we should all educate from this methodology,
so that people become more human and aware of their environment.
So, that you know a little
more about it, I can tell you that the Montessori method is not used in Chile
on a large scale, there are very few centers that use this curriculum.
Maria Montessori passed away
in 1952 but her legacy through the Montessori method remains intact, I really
hope that over time more educational institutions will accept this method as a
way of educating, providing children with a comprehensive and fruitful
development.
